The Fruit of the Spirit

The Fruit of the Spirit, A journey where conviction and encouragement intersect, is a six-week Bible study that takes participants into a deep dive into the biblical truth of the fruit the Holy Spirit produces in the life of a follower of Jesus.

The study begins with building the foundation from Paul's teaching in Galatians. From there, a week is spent on the fruits of love, joy, and peace individually as these fruits express the Godward aspect of the Christian life.

The final two weeks culminate in the study of the remaining fruits, which are all reflective of the character of God produced in the lives of His sons and daughters as they live their lives yielded to Him and filled with the Holy Spirit.

This study is sure to produce a deeper understanding of life in the Spirit.

Session 1

In Lesson 1 of Fruit of the Spirit, we’re reminded that growing in Christ begins with a personal, Spirit-led relationship rooted in God's Word. As we slow down to write Scripture, yield to the Spirit, and pursue God through prayer and worship, we are empowered to walk in freedom, overcome the flesh, and live out the law of love. The fruit of the Spirit is not self-produced effort, but the very character of God formed in us as we abide in Him.

Session 2

Lesson 2 of Fruit of the Spirit focuses on agape love—the selfless, sacrificial love of God—that serves as the foundation from which all other fruits grow. This love, revealed through the Spirit and Scripture, transforms how we relate to others by equipping us to love deeply, listen well, and engage with grace. Rooted in God’s unwavering faithfulness, we are invited to live Spirit-empowered lives that reflect His heart in every conversation and interaction.

Session 3

Lesson 3 of Fruit of the Spirit centers on joy as a natural outcome of abiding in God’s love and walking in the Spirit. Joy is deeply tied to gratitude, worship, and remembering God’s faithfulness—practices that not only transform our hearts but also rewire our brains toward hope and motivation. True joy flows from union with Christ, and as we disciple others with God’s Word, we help cultivate that joy in them as well.

Session 4

Lesson 4 of The Fruit of the Spirit explores peace as a foundational result of our relationship with Jesus, rooted in His Word and sustained through prayer and trust. Peace (eirene) is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of Christ, our Prince of Peace, who gives us His peace even in life’s storms. By staying connected to the Holy Spirit, redirecting our thoughts toward truth, and choosing daily practices like trust, gratitude, and stillness, we cultivate a peace that reshapes our hearts and even rewires our minds.

Session 5

Lesson 5 of The Fruit of the Spirit highlights how patience, kindness, and goodness reflect the outward expression of a Spirit-led life grounded in the finished work of Jesus. We grow in these fruits by daily surrender, remembering our identity in Christ, and cultivating our hearts with gratitude and truth. As we trust God’s unchanging character and goodness, we can live with hopeful expectation, knowing the Holy Spirit is actively transforming us through every moment and circumstance.

Session 6

Lesson 6 explores the final three fruits of the Spirit—faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—as evidence of a life rooted in intimacy with Jesus and shaped by His Spirit. We are reminded that fruit grows through daily dependence on God, intentional thought patterns, and Spirit-led relationships formed in community. Faithfulness calls us to obedience regardless of outcome, gentleness reflects power under control, and self-control is cultivated as our minds are renewed by the Word of God.
